現在、ビットコイン（BTC）のハードフォークが計画されております。
本ハードフォークでは、Bitcoin のブロックチェーンから新たなブロックチェーン「eCash」が分岐し、新たな暗号資産「ECX」が発生する予定です。
本計画は、Alpha、Beta、Mainnet の3段階で実施される予定です。Alpha および Beta では、正式なハードフォークが実施される Mainnet に向けた検証が行われる予定です。
第1段階となる Alpha は 2026年8月23日（日）頃に予定されています。
ビットバンクでは、お客様の資産保全および Alpha 実施に伴う技術対応のため、下記の期間、ビットコイン（BTC）の入出金を一時停止いたします。

ハードフォークについて
ハードフォークの発生時期
本ハードフォークに係る計画は、Alpha、Beta、Mainnet の3段階で実施される予定です。
各段階の実施時期は以下のとおりです。
- Alpha：Block 963,648（2026年8月23日（日）頃）
- Beta：Block 967,680
- Mainnet：Block 973,728
正式なハードフォークは、Mainnet となる Block 973,728 において実施される予定です。
なお、各段階の実施時期は、Bitcoin のブロック生成状況等により前後する可能性があります。
ハードフォークの内容
本ハードフォークに係る計画は、Alpha、Beta、Mainnet の3段階で実施される予定です。各段階の内容は以下のとおりです。
① Alpha
テスト用の ECX を用いて、正式なハードフォークが実施される Mainnet に向けた検証が行われる予定です。
② Beta
Alpha と同様に、テスト用の ECX を用いて Mainnet に向けた検証が行われる予定です。
③ Mainnet
正式なハードフォークが実施され、Bitcoin のブロックチェーンから独立した新たなブロックチェーン「eCash」が分岐するとともに、暗号資産「ECX」が正式に発生する予定です。
なお、各段階の内容については、今後変更される可能性があります。
また、本ハードフォークにより発生する「eCash（ECX）」は、既存の暗号資産「eCash（XEC）」とは異なる暗号資産です。
ハードフォークを計画する主体
本ハードフォークは、Paul Sztorc氏および LayerTwo Labs により計画されています。
ハードフォークの目的および予測される効果
本ハードフォークは、新たに分岐する eCashチェーンにおいて Drivechain（BIP-300およびBIP-301）を有効化し、サイドチェーンを利用可能とすることを目的として計画されています。
Drivechain の導入により、Bitcoin のメインチェーンとは別のサイドチェーン上で、さまざまな機能を実装・利用できるようになることが想定されています。
想定されるリスク
本計画に伴い、以下のようなリスクが生じる可能性があります。
- 関連するネットワークが一時的に不安定になる可能性
- 分岐後のチェーンにおいて、トランザクションの巻き戻し等が発生する可能性
- Bitcoin と eCash では同一のアドレス形式が利用され、リプレイプロテクションが任意設定となる予定であることから、一方のチェーン上で行ったトランザクションが他方のチェーン上でも成立し、ECX が意図せず移転する可能性
- BTC または ECX の価格や流動性が大きく変動する可能性
当社では、これらのリスクを含め、eCash の技術仕様やネットワークの安全性・安定性、お客様の資産保全への影響について引き続き確認してまいります。
ECX の付与および取扱いについて
Mainnet におけるハードフォークにより発生する ECX について、お客様への付与およびビットバンクにおける取扱いは、現時点では未定です。
当社では、計画されたハードフォークおよび当該ハードフォークにより生じる新たな暗号資産への対応について、以下の指針を定めています。

なお、当社が ECX を取り扱う場合には、当社によるリスク評価および業界の自主規制規則等に基づく所定の手続きが必要となります。本お知らせは、お客様への ECX の付与または当社における ECX の取扱いをお約束するものではございません。あらかじめご了承ください。
Beta および Mainnet における対応について
今回の入出金停止は、第1段階となる Alpha への対応として実施するものです。
第2段階の Beta および第3段階の Mainnet については、Alpha における検証結果やネットワークの状況、本ハードフォークを計画する主体から公表される最新の技術情報等を踏まえ、必要な対応を判断いたします。
今後、Beta または Mainnet に伴い BTC の入出金停止等が必要となる場合には、あらためてお知らせいたします。
入出金の再開について
Alpha 実施後、Bitcoin ネットワークおよび当社システムの安定稼働を確認し、お客様の資産保全上問題がないと判断した後、BTC の入出金を再開いたします。
再開時にはブログにてご案内いたしますので、ご確認をお願いいたします。
今後、本ハードフォークに係る計画の内容や当社の対応方針に変更が生じた場合には、当社ウェブサイト等を通じて速やかにお知らせいたします。

A hard fork of Bitcoin (BTC) is currently planned.
The planned hard fork is expected to result in a new blockchain called "eCash" branching from the Bitcoin blockchain and a new crypto asset, "ECX," being created.
The plan is expected to proceed in three stages: Alpha, Beta, and Mainnet. Alpha and Beta are intended as verification stages leading up to Mainnet, when the formal hard fork is scheduled to take place.
The first stage, Alpha, is currently scheduled to take place around Sunday, August 23, 2026.
To safeguard customer assets and carry out the necessary technical measures for Alpha, bitbank will temporarily suspend Bitcoin (BTC) deposits and withdrawals during the following period.

About the Hard Fork
Timing of the Hard Fork
The plan related to this hard fork is expected to proceed in three stages: Alpha, Beta, and Mainnet.
The scheduled timing of each stage is as follows:
- Alpha: Block 963,648 (around Sunday, August 23, 2026)
- Beta: Block 967,680
- Mainnet: Block 973,728
The formal hard fork is scheduled to take place at Block 973,728 during Mainnet.

The "eCash (ECX)" created as a result of this hard fork is a different crypto asset from the existing "eCash (XEC)."
Party Planning the Hard Fork
The hard fork is being planned by Paul Sztorc and LayerTwo Labs.
Purpose and Expected Effects of the Hard Fork
The hard fork is intended to enable Drivechain (BIP-300 and BIP-301) on the newly forked eCash blockchain, allowing sidechains to be used.
The introduction of Drivechain is expected to enable various functions to be implemented and used on sidechains separate from the Bitcoin mainchain.
Potential Risks
The plan may involve risks including, but not limited to, the following:
- Temporary instability of the relevant networks
- Transaction reversals or other disruptions on the chain after the fork
- As Bitcoin and eCash are expected to use the same address format and replay protection is expected to be optional, a transaction made on one chain may also be valid on the other chain, potentially resulting in an unintended transfer of ECX
- Significant fluctuations in the price or liquidity of BTC or ECX
bitbank will continue to review these and other risks, including the technical specifications of eCash, the security and stability of the network, and any potential impact on the safeguarding of customer assets.
Distribution and Support of ECX
At this time, no decision has been made regarding the distribution of ECX to customers or bitbank's support of ECX following its creation as a result of the hard fork during Mainnet.
bitbank has established the following policy regarding planned hard forks and new crypto assets resulting from such hard forks:

If bitbank decides to support ECX, bitbank will be required to conduct a risk assessment and complete the prescribed procedures in accordance with applicable industry self-regulatory rules and other requirements. This announcement does not constitute a commitment by bitbank to distribute ECX to customers or to support ECX.
Our Approach to Beta and Mainnet
The temporary suspension announced in this notice applies to Alpha, the first stage of the plan.
Our response to Beta, the second stage, and Mainnet, the third stage, will be determined based on the verification results and network conditions during Alpha, as well as the latest technical information published by the parties planning the hard fork.
If additional measures, including the temporary suspension of BTC deposits and withdrawals, become necessary for Beta or Mainnet, we will provide a separate announcement.
Deposits and Withdrawals Resumption
Following Alpha, we will resume BTC deposits and withdrawals after confirming the stable operation of the Bitcoin network and our systems and determining that there are no issues with the safeguarding of customer assets.
We will announce the resumption via our blog, so please check there for updates.
