ビットバンク株式会社（本社：東京都品川区、代表取締役社長：廣末 紀之、以下当社） は Lightning Network の発展や普及促進を目的として、「Diamond Handsプロジェクト」を支援することをお知らせいたします。
当社は「ビットコインの技術で、世界中にあらゆる価値を流通させる」をミッションに、ビットコインの最先端技術に関する研究開発に積極的に取り組んでいます。
ビットバンクでは、既存のサービスや利用技術に囚われず、ビットコインやイーサリアムを始めとした暗号資産技術のトレンドを把握し技術的な競争力を高めること、さらにはオープンソースコミュニティへの貢献を通じて暗号資産業界の発展の一翼を担うための研究開発チームを組成しております。
特に、ビットコインのレイヤー2における最先端の技術領域である Lightning Network の研究開発には注力しており、当社 CBO ジョナサン・アンダーウッドがメンテナーを務める bitcoinjs-lib を始めとして、Lightning Network 普及促進に向けて技術的な側面からアプローチを続けており、自社開発の OSS 公開も計画しております。
また、当社は Lightning Network に関する技術的な情報発信のみならず、実用化に向けて以下のようなビジネスニーズの観点から、自社プロダクト開発を含む様々なプロジェクトを推進しております。

「Diamond Hands プロジェクト」は、 ノード運用者同士で協力しながらトップノードを目指す実験的プロジェクトであり、Lightning Network を利用したプロダクト開発を手掛ける事業家の東晃慈氏、Spotlight 創業者兼エンジニアの小川裕也氏によって推進されております。
ノード運営者は、両氏が運営する Lightning Network ノード「Diamond Hands」に パブリックチャネルを開設することで、提供したビットコインの流動性に応じて、ノンカストディアルにビットコインで報酬を受け取ることができる仕組みになっております。これにより、チャネルを開設したノード運営者は、手数料を抑えながら安定して送受金が行えることや、ノード運営者同士で協力することで、処理可能なトランザクションを増やすことができる効果が期待されております。
誰もが自由に参加することができる Lightning Network を駆使した決済網の発展を援助する観点から、当社は従来より続けてきた研究開発の一環として本プロジェクトを支援し、ノード運用者に対してコミュニティへの参加を促すことで、Lightning Network の普及を後押ししていく所存です。

We are pleased to announce that bitbank (CEO: Noriyuki Hirosue, HQ: Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan) supports “Diamond Hands Project '' for wider adoption of Lightning Network.
With the mission of bitbank “Enhancing value exchange with bitcoin technology '', we actively work on research and development of advanced technology of Bitcoin.
Apart from our services and existing technologies, bitbank has our own R&D team that aims to enhance technological competitiveness by keeping up with the latest trends of crypto technology such as Bitcoin and Ethereum and to play a part in the forward-looking development of the cryptocurrency space through the contribution to the OSS community.
We especially focus on Lightning Network which is the latest technology of the Layer 2 of Bitcoin. For example, through bitcoinjs-lib, where our CBO Jonathan Underwood is one of the maintainers, we contribute technologically to promote and spread Lightning Network - we also plan to release OSS on our own.
bitbank not only offers the information regarding the technology of Lightning Network, but also we carry out projects such as development of our own products to satisfy the business need mentioned below.
- Diffusion of value transfer system through open and public protocol especially with a focus on Bitcoin
- Solving the scalability problem concerning Bitcoin transaction
- Adjustment of base layer of Web 3.0 which Bitcoin brings forth
- Implementation of new business models of micropayments
“Diamond Hands Project” is an experimental project which aims to be the top node through the cooperation between the node operators. This project is carried out by the product developer who uses the technology of Lightning Network, Koji Higashi, and the founder of Spotlight and engineer, Yuya Ogawa.
Node operators, depending on the liquidity of Bitcoin they offered, can receive rewards as a form of Bitcoin in the non-custodial wallet through opening a public channel on “Diamond Hands” which is a Lightning Network node.
Thanks to this, node operators who open the channel will be expected to send and receive Bitcoin with stability, driving down the commission. Also, through the cooperation between the operators, it is expected to increase the processable transactions.
From the perspective of helping to develop the payment network through Lightning Network, where everyone can openly participate, bitbank will support this project as a part of our research and development projects. Through encouraging the node operators to participate in the community, we hope to promote and expand Lightning Network.
